Long known as one of the most beautiful towns in the Northeast, Summit offers a surprise around every corner. Rail and bus links to Newark and Manhattan, Routes 24 and 78 and the Garden State Parkway and Newark-Liberty International Airport, commuters find this thriving community a perfect place to settle. The Summit Train Station has the Mid-Town Direct train -a less than 30 minute ride - from Summit to Penn Station. The City of Summit has numerous parking garages and lots supplying ample parking for resident commuters and downtown employees.  

 

In Downtown Summit you will find international dining and fine shops along with a wide variety of professional services, galleries, spas and salons. Stay the night at the lovely DeBary Inn or the renowned Grand Summit Hotel, both just a few blocks from downtown.
 

The Farmers Market comes to town every Sunday from 9am-2pm between June and October, in the Summit Bank parking lot. 
 

For more traditional shopping, The Short Hills Mall in Millburn, New Jersey is a mile away from the Summit downtown. 

 

Summit’s rich and lively cultural scene – you can go to The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, the largest regional art center in New Jersey, devoted exclusively to contemporary art, including painting, ceramics, sculpture and digital media or for live dramatic performances attend the Summit Playhouse.  

 

The Reeves-Reed Arboretum is a great place to visit with formal gardens and woodlands on its 12.5 acres site and is a New Jersey Registers of Historic Places. Nature classes and seasonal events are available for both children and adults.

 

Memorial Field - on Parkview Terrace and Ashland Road, includes baseball/softball fields, soccer fields a cinder track, tennis courts and playground.
 

Tatlock/Greenfield Recreation Fields - on Butler Parkway, has a synthetic turf football stadium and track, along with four lighted tennis courts, practice fields and a playground.
 

Wilson Park - there are paddle tennis courts, baseball/soccer fields, a basketball court and playground.

Briant Park - near Route 24, is 30 acres of rolling grassland with a large pond.
 

As you can tell, Summit has numerous playing fields to include baseball, football, soccer, basketball, tennis, running track and a 9-par Golf Course and a Municipal Pool.

 

Summit's public education system includes five elementary schools – Brayton School, Franklin School, Jefferson School, Lincoln Hubbard, and Washington,  a middle school – Lawton C. Johnshon and Summit High School. Just recently, Summit High School was ranked the 6th best high school in the State of New Jersey and was ranked as Number 149 nationwide in Newsweekmagazine's listing of "America's Best High Schools" in the August 5, 2005 issue.
